A piece of the highly-ambitious bitcoin art project started by Robert Alice is set to be sold off in an auction this coming October 7th. As per the announcement, the particular scheduled auction would be for the artwork “Block 21” and shall kick start a series of artwork sales regarding the project. Notably, Christie’s New York has been announced as the host of the unprecedented auction.

Robert Alice, a former blockchain player now-art enthusiast, created this monumental bitcoin-inspired art project by combining 40 different hand paintings with each containing a series of hex digits emphasized with pure gold. Alice’s bitcoin art project spans over 50 meters lengthwise and is basically the art transcription of the millions and millions of digits used to launch the prominent cryptocurrency. This project is also widely considered as Bitcoin’s largest artwork as of date.

Prior to the October 7th auction, the artwork for sale would be put on display in the galleries of Christie’s New York starting this October 1st. Reports dictate that the “Block 21” artwork may have an estimated selling price ranging from $12,000 to $18,000. As per the first 20 “Blocks,” they were already privately sold off to some of the most prominent industry names, such as Binance’s Changpeng Zhao, Coinscrum’s Paul Gordon, and Bloq’s Matthew Roszak.

It is also worth mentioning that the auctioned artwork is also supplemented by a non-fungible token (NFT) based on Ethereum. As per the announcement, the NFT will serve as the artwork’s proof of legitimacy and would be the physical artwork’s digital representation. Alice has also noted that by showcasing his artwork alongside the sale of NFTs, he hopes to attract other artists to take an interest in it as well. This is because he believes that NFTs can significantly help artists like him to have more control over their profession moving forward.
