CFTC Commissioner Appoints Former Credit Suisse Securities Regulatory Policy Head as her New Senior Policy Advisor and Counselor

The current commissioner of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Caroline Pham, announced this Friday that former Credit Suisse Securities regulatory policy head, Keaghan Ames, will now be joining her staff particularly as her senior policy advisor and counselor starting this May 23rd.

As per the announcement, Ames will be joining the CFTC via the Institute of International Bankers, where he currently serves as the government affairs director for almost a year.

During his stint at Credit Suisse, the company’s digital asset subsidiary tried out end-to-end fund transactions powered by blockchain technology, later piloting a settlement initiative between Paxos, Instinet, and itself.

However, just this February, the company had fallen victim to a massive data leak that compromised several of its account holders, which reportedly included heads of state and sanctioned personalities.

Taking office as the CFTC commissioner this April, Pham is one of the five leaders serving the US regulating body under chair Rostin Behnam. Pham is the latest commissioner of the CFTC, picked by President Joe Biden himself, joining Kristin Johnson, Summer Mersinger, Christy Goldsmith Romero, and Behnam.

Ames is still to comment on his new position with the CFTC at the moment of writing.
