Coinbase Is Now Officially a Sponsor of the NBA and WNBA

Coinbase makes its move towards sports marketing by announcing today that it has now officially signed a deal with the NBA and the WNBA to be the partnering leagues’ exclusive crypto platform sponsor. Coinbase’s logo and branding will now appear prominently on the basketball leagues’ televised games as part of the newly signed deal.

As per Coinbase’s blog post, its sponsorship with the NBA and the WNBA is set to continue for multiple years and includes exclusive content creation and comprehensive campaigns aiming to educate basketball fans regarding cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

NBA’s Senior Vice President of Global Marketing Partnerships and Media, Kerry Tatlock, commented on this development by stating that Coinbase’s stature as a trusted crypto platform by millions of people around the world makes it a perfect partner of the league, especially so as its first sponsor on the thriving industry.

Notably, Coinbase’s sponsorship with the NBA and the WNBA also involves the NBA 2k League and the NBA G League.

Interestingly, this move by Coinbase to penetrate the sports marketing sector came following its rival, Sam Bankman-Fried’s FTX, signing a deal with the MLB to feature its logos and branding on every umpire’s uniform. On top of that, FTX has also made an agreement with NBA’s Miami Heat franchise to brandish its name on its arena for televised basketball games.
