Coinbase’s Brian Armstrong is the Top Blockchain Billionaire, According To China’s Hurun Institute

Brian Armstrong, the CEO of the biggest crypto exchange in the United States, Coinbase, is the top billionaire in the Blockchain industry, according to China-based Hurun Research Institute’s 2020 Global Rich List. The report emphasized that Armstrong’s current net worth has now surged to more than $11 billion after just recently reaching the $1 billion mark last year. This garnered him the title of the world’s richest in the whole crypto industry.

Hurun’s report, which was published this past March 2nd, provides a comprehensive overview of the richest men in the world today. It states that the total number of billionaires worldwide has recently jumped to more than 3,000 individuals over the past half-decade. That is an increase of about 50%. While Hurun’s list also includes billionaires across many other industries, it notably contains 17 individuals who made their astounding fortune primarily from cryptocurrency. And among them, Armstrong is the top guy.

Sam Bankman-Fried, the CEO of FTX, is just below Armstrong with his $10 billion net worth, while Binance’s Changpeng Zhao sits in third place with his $8 billion. Other distinguished entries on the Hurun list include the Winklevoss twins, Bloq’s co-founder Matthew Roszak, and MicroStrategy’s Michael Saylor, who is currently on a massive tear investing hefty amounts of money on BTC.

Moving away from the blockchain space, Hurun’s overall Rich List is headed by the extremely influential Tesla CEO Elon Musk with $197 billion. He is then closely followed by the founder of Amazon and previous world’s richest man titleholder, Jeff Bezos, with $189 billion.
