The world-famous author of the sensational Harry Potter series pressed on by irking Bitcoin supporters after she has apparently revealed that she has aligned herself with Ethereum. JK Rowling’s recent tweet regarding the matter conveyed a message as if she has been toying around with Bitcoin in an effort to boost her significant Ethereum holdings. However, at the very end, she added that this is entirely a joke.
* This is also a joke.— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) May 18, 2020
Rowling tested the waters of cryptocurrency this last Friday, May 15th, wherein she simply asked: “What is Bitcoin?” Expectedly so, she received tons and tons of feedback, but that seemed only turned her off with the prospect. Just days after, has announced that she regrets ever mentioning anything about Bitcoin. She then added that numerous people are still actively convincing her to purchase Bitcoin or at the very least explain it to her. However, she just wants it all to stop.
As you may know, Ethereum (ETH) is Bitcoin’s greatest rival. It is currently the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency just behind Bitcoin (BTC). Ethereum was launched back in 2015 and has now amassed a staggering market cap of more than $23 billion. The crypto firm was co-founded by Vitalik Buterin and has pioneered the utilization of smart contracts. Ethereum is also expected to undergo a significant scaling advancement within the near future.
JK Rowling’s entry within the Crypto industry
The famous author’s unexpected entrance to the cryptocurrency world via Twitter has made significant waves throughout the industry. In fact, the CEOs of the two largest crypto exchange firms today feel thoroughly shamed about their supposed failure to reel in Rowling into their respective cryptos even further.
Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, at one point, replied to a fake JK Rowling account that pretended that she has indeed bought $100 worth of Bitcoin assets. On top of suffering embarrassment due to his failure to recognize a fake account, the Armstrong was also regarded to have been too eager to promote his “shitcoins”, as one particular onlooker called it.
The CEO of Binance, Changpeng Zhao, on the other hand, have quickly deleted his tweet which contains the particular phrase: “Give a woman a fish and you feed her for a day; teach a woman to fish and you feed her for a lifetime. Not that you still need feeding, but…” which seemingly is directed to JK Rowling as well.
The fact that Rowling persists on engaging with the crypto community, even in a toying manner, could be interpreted as her warming up into the prospect of purchasing one in the future. With all that being said, no one knows what will be Rowling’s next move, especially now that she is acquainted with the top two crypto firms today.
