Blockchain investments and infrastructure startup, Staked, announced today that it will now be providing accredited investors with a brand new way to invest in Ether (ETH) in the hopes of earning staking rewards on the Beacon Chain of the Ethereum 2.0. Staked calls it “The Staked ETH trust.”
As per the announcement, the new Staked ETH Trust would allow institutional investors to get said rewards in the same manner as buying a stock. Furthermore, the Trust enables them to gain substantial exposure to ETH while also having the chance to earn staking rewards just for holding it – joining several other newly-established trusts dedicated for the exact same purpose. The startup notes that ETH staking returns on the new Trust can potentially go as high as 8%.
The CEO of Staked, Tim Ogilvie, explained the firm’s decision to offer ETH 2.0 staking by stating that the desire of people to earn staking rewards grows in parallel to the appeal of owning cryptos. Staked’s ETH 2.0 Trust aims to make it easier for traditional investors to jump over the gap, thus, rendering the participation in crypto staking that much more appealing.
As for the time being, Staked’s new Trust would only be available for accredited investors, much like its other crypto-dedicated contemporaries, such as Bitwise’s Index Funds and Grayscale’s Trust Suite. Lastly, participating investors would notably incur a 1% cost which will reportedly head directly to legal, custody, sponsor, and accounting fees.
