Tesla’s head-honcho and prominent crypto-supportive celebrity, Elon Musk, is now the world’s richest man as per the latest report of Bloomberg. With the recent surge of Tesla stock prices, Musk’s total net worth jumped to $188 billion – overtaking Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ $187 billion, bumping the former world’s richest man to second place.
As staggering as it may sound today, Elon Musk’s net worth was ‘only’ about $27 billion by the start of last year. This put him just barely within the top 50 wealthiest people in the world. That said, even he could not have predicted for his company’s share price to skyrocket this much – increasing by more than nine times within just a single year. Add to that his substantial pay package, and now Musk sits atop of the world. Bloomberg comments on this monumental rise of Musk and Tesla as perhaps the fastest wealth accumulation in the history of the world.
Tesla stocks (TSLA) now comfortably sits at approximately $800 per share after nudging upwards by 5% today. Now, the company is worth over $700 billion in which Musk owns a sizeable 20% stake.
With all that being said, Musk kept his cool and calm demeanor upon hearing the news regarding his new title. The now-richest man in the world simply tweeted: “How strange” and “Well, back to work” after getting ahold of the recent news.
